Ronda Jean Rousey also known as Rowdy and the Arm Collector is a talented mixed martial artist, judoka, professional wrestler, actress, and model. While Rousey is currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), she is also a former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, an Olympic Bronze Medalist in Judo, and the last Bantamweight Champion of Women’s Strikeforce.
Rousey was born in Riverside, California on February 1, 1987. Her mother was the first U.S. player to win a World Judo Championship. Ronda had been struggling with speech control and was under intensive speech therapy during the first few years of her life. She dropped out of high school and decided to be a professional athlete. She was 21 when she retired from her outstanding Judo career and 22 when she started her MMA career path.
Rousey has been constantly the number 1 pound-for-pound female fighter in MMA. She was also considered as the number 1 female MMA fighter of all time and number 4 (both male and female) in the UFC.
Aside from her mixed martial arts recognition, Rousey also has won an Olympic medal in Judo in 2008. She comes with a 4th degree black belt in the said sport and was the first woman in her country to win such award in the Olympics. ESPN also named her as the Best Female Athlete Ever.
Due to her numerous achievements in an array of sports, she was one of the highest paid fighter for both male and female category in the UFC. In fact, she was once hailed as the top Most Dominant Athletes Alive.
The multi-awarded MMA artist trained with Gokor Chivichyan and Edmond Tarverdyan for both grappling and boxing. Jimmy Pedro was the one who trained her for her Olympic stint. For her grappling, she trains with Rener Gracie, Gene Le Belle, and Ann Maria de Mars. Some of her notable styles in MMA are judo and boxing, enabling her to perform excellent grappling skills and mastery of the armbar.
In addition to being a professional athlete, Rousey also has successful acting and modeling careers. She was featured in many sports magazine and played big roles in major hit movies, including The Expendables and Furious 7. The very talented athlete boasts of an MMA record of 14 matches with 12 wins and 2 losses. Most of these wins are by submission.
