Nolan Baumgartner is a Canadian defenseman in the Vancouver Canucks’ organization.

Baumgartner has been an NHL journeyman since being drafted 10th overall by the Washington Capitals in 1994. He was drafted after posting 55 points and 109 penalty minutes in the WHL, and returned to the Kamloops Blazers to help them win the Memorial Cup. He was named playoff MVP and the league’s best defenseman, and made his NHL debut with Washington in 1995. He spent most of the next ten seasons in the AHL, despite making brief appearances with the Capitals, Chicago Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins. He had a breakout year with the Canucks in 2005-06, scoring 34 points in 70 games, but was unable to replicate his success in either Philadelphia or Dallas, where he spent the next two years. He played three more years in the AHL before rejoining the Canucks in 2009.

Baumgartner won two gold medals with Team Canada at the 1995 and 1996 World Juniors.
