Hans Jonsson is a Swedish defenseman on Modo Hockey.
Jonsson has spent his entire Elitserien career with Modo, beginning in 1991, when he made his professional Swedish hockey debut. In 1993, he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins, after appearing in 40 games for Modo. He played six more years with Modo Hockey before coming to the NHL in 1999. In 1997-98, he posted a career high 14 points and 40 penalty minutes with Modo. He spent four years in Pittsburgh, and finished his NHL career with 10 goals, 48 points and 92 penalty minutes in 242 games. In 2003, he returned to Sweden. In 2006-07, he had a career high 86 penalty minutes along with 13 points, helping Modo win the league championship.
Jonsson played for Sweden at the 1998 and 1999 World Championships, winning a gold medal in ’98 and a bronze in ’99.
