Niklas Hjalmarsson is a Swedish defenseman on the Chicago Blackhawks.
Hjalmarsson was originally drafted by the Blackhawks in 2005, but continued playing in the Elitserien with HV71 until 2007. He spent most of the 2007-08 season playing in the AHL, but was called up to Chicago for 13 games. The following season, he played 21 games but was unable to earn a regular place in the lineup. However, once James Wisniewski was traded to Anaheim, Hjalmarsson was able to get a regular spot on the roster and even made the Blackhawks’ postseason roster.
