Adam Foote is a Canadian defenseman on the Colorado Avalanche.
Foote was drafted by the Avalanche when the team was still in Quebec, in 1989. He broke into the NHL in 1992, and played four seasons in Quebec before the club moved to Colorado. In Colorado, he developed into one of the most physically solid defensive defensemen in the NHL. In 1992-93, he set a career high with 168 penalty minutes. He won two Stanley Cups with the Avalanche in ’96 and 2001. He was traded to Columbus in 2005, where he played three seasons before returning to Colorado in 2008.
Foote has played for Team Canada 5 times, winning 2 gold medals at the 2002 Winter Olympics and 2004 World Cup, as well as a silver medal at the ’96 World Cup.
