Alexander Edler is a Swedish defenseman on the Vancouver Canucks.

Edler was drafted by Vancouver in 2004. Edler played for a very weak, and now non-existent team in Sweden, but was luckily scouted by the Canucks, and drafted in the 3rd round. After being drafted, he played with MoDo Hockey’s Jr. club during the lockout in ’04-05. He joined the Canucks in 2006, playing in 22 games. He finished the ’07-08 season with 8 goals and 20 points in 75 games. He is one of the most highly regarded prospects in the Vancouver organization, due to his combination of offensive and defensive skill sets. Edler set career highs with the Canucks in 2008-09, scoring 10 goals and 37 points. He is well known in Vancouver for his heavy shot, with which he won the 2008 Canucks hardest shot competition.
