Patrick Marleau is a Canadian center on the San Jose Sharks.
Marleau was drafted by San Jose with the 2nd overall pick in 1997. He developed into a solid two way center early in his career, and was named the Sharks’ team captain in 2003. He came back from the lockout with a seemingly fresh set of offensive skills, potting 34 goals and 86 points his first season back. The following year, he passed Owen Nolan as the all-time franchise leader in goals and points scored. He has helped lead the Sharks to the second round of the playoffs in each of the last three seasons. He was recently named to the 2009 Western Conference All Star Team, his 3rd such selection.
Marleau has played for Team Canada a number of times, and has won 2 gold medals at the ’03 World Championships and the ’04 World Cup. He also won a silver medal at the 2005 World Championships.
