Tomas Vokoun is a Czech goalie on the Florida Panthers.
Vokoun was drafted in 1994 by Montreal. He played one game with the Canadiens, before being drafted by Nashville in the expansion draft in 1998. Vokoun played well as the backup, but veteran Mike Dunham had a firm hold on the starting job until being traded to New York in 2002. In 2003-04, he was named the starter and played so well he played in the All Star games, and carried the Predators to the playoffs where they lost to the Red Wings. He played for HIFK during the lockout, but returned to Nashville the next season. Vokoun missed the end of the 2005-06 season with a blood disorder and returned for the next season. He was traded to Florida at the start of the 2007 offseason. Vokoun earned another All Star selection in 2008 as the Panthers’ starting goalie.
Vokoun played for the Czech Republic at the 1994 and 1996 World Junior Championships. He won a gold medal at the 2005 World Championships and a bronze medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics. He also played at the 2004 World Cup and World Championships.
