Steve Webster is an English professional golfer. He was born on January 17, 1975 in Nuneaton, England. He is currently residing in Atherstone, Warwickshire, and was known to have dated actress, Susie Amy.
Before turning pro, Webster participated in the 1995 Open Championship, managing to finish in 24th place in a tie. Later that year, Webster turned pro. He won the 1995 European Tour Qualifying School; however, after finishing in 129th place on the Order of Merit, he was forced to return to Qualifying School. After going through Qualifying School for the second time, he has managed to reach the top one-hundred ranks of the Order of Merit yearly.
By 2005, Webster won his very first European Tour title by winning the Telecom Italia Open. He then went on to finish with his career-best at No. 29 on the Order of Merit. Two years later, he again garnered a European Tour title by winning at the Portugal Masters.
His 2005 win at the Telecom Italia Open as well as his debut at the Top 30 of the World ranking is often credited to magician turned psychologist, Jamil Qureshi, for aiding him in adopting a positive approach when playing the game.
Webster was a part of the Great Britain & Ireland team which won the Seve Trophy in 2002.
Over the course of his career, Webster has won a total of 2 professional wins. All of these wins were won on the European Tour, and none on the PGA Tour. These events were the 2005 Telecom Italia Open and 2007 Portugal Masters. Despite over a decade playing professional golf, Webster has not made many appearances in Major Championship events.
