Rasmus Højgaard was born in Billund, Denmark on March 12, 2001. He has a twin brother named Nicolai Højgaard who is also a professional golfer. Nicolai was on the same Danish team that won the 2018 Eisenhower Trophy. The two also became the first brothers who had back-to-back victories in the European Tour in 2021.
Career
In 2016, Højgaard won the Danish International Amateur Championship. He was also part of the team at the European Boys’ Team Championship. In the next weeks, he won the McGregor Trophy. In 2018, he won the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup, landing four strokes ahead of Nicolai.
He turned professional in 2019. In December of that year, he won the title at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. In August of 2020, he won the ISPS Handa UK Championship. This marked his second win. He became the second-youngest player to multiple wins on the European Tour after Matteo Manassero. In 2021, he was the winner of the Omega European Masters which was held in Switzerland.
