Thomas Pieters is a professional golfer, who recently plays for the European Tour. He was born and raised in Geel, Belgium, where he took interest in playing golf at 5 years old. When he was in college, he studied at the University of Illinois, so that he could join the golf club at the university. As a golf player, he won the Jack Nicklaus Invitational in 2011 and NCAA Division I Championship in 2012.

Professional Golf Career

Pieters decided not to continue his senior year and pursued a career in golf instead. In the summer of 2013, he debuted on the European Tour at the Alstom Open de France. By the following year, he made a remarkable performance by winning a runner-up in the Open de Espana and finishing 6th place at the Russian Open Golf Championship. He also finished 8th place at the Malaysian Open in 2014.

In 2016, Pieters participated in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, where he won 2nd place. His home country also decided to send him to the 2016 Summer Olympics, and he successfully finished 4th place. He was also selected as the captain’s pick for the 2016 Ryder Cup.

As an amateur, he took home the International of Belgium Junior Championship in 2009 and Big Ten Championship in 2013. Currently, he had 7 professional wins.
