Tony Finau is an American golf player, who is currently playing for the PGA Tour. Finau was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. Because of his huge interest in golf, he would usually represent himself in the Utah State Amateur Championship and managed to defeat Daniel Summerhays.
He became a professional golf player when he was 17 years old, and he began playing at the National Pro Tour, NGA Hooters Tour, and Getaway Tour, One of his biggest breaks was to enter the Big Break Disney Golf, where he was placed second place. Finau also joined the PGA Tour Canada and has reached 7 in eight cuts. He also entered the Web.com Tour, where he finished the event at T-3.
In 2016, Finau successfully won his maiden title for the Puerto Rico Open, where he has to play the sudden-death playoff over Steve Marino. By the following year, he decided not to defend his title in Puerto Rico Open, and he joined the 2017 WGC Dell Technologies Match Play instead.
Finau made his first Masters appearance in 2018 when he joined the Tour Championship, and he finished the series in 10 places. During the event, he suffered from an ankle injury in the Par-3 contest before the first round. In June 2018, he joined the US Open where he finished in 5th place.
Even though he lost a playoff in the WGC-HSBC Champions, he was able to take home $1,000,000 by finishing second against Xander Schauffele. In 2019, he joined the Masters Tournament, and he finished the tournament in 5th place.
Finau also has a brother who aspired to become a professional golf player named Gipper, however, he did not make it successfully. He is also cousin with NBA player Jabari Parker and NFL football player Haloti Ngata.
