Sandra Gal was named the 2008 International Player while she was a rookie. She immediately became a professional after her round in the 2008 LPGA season. Born in Dusseldorf, Germany on May 9, 1985, she recently became a part of W7 (Wilhelmina 7), a division of the Wilhelmina models whose members come from the LPGA Tour. The company’s goal is to show the other side of golf as a sport.
Sandra started playing golf when she was only 6 years old. Now standing 6 feet tall and being the only child, Gal acknowledges that her father, who influenced her into becoming a professional player, was her very first coach. She also love playing tennis, wakeboard, play violin and dance ballet.
At seventeen, she joined the German National Team. At eighteen she got the championship title of the German National Girls. She earned the tile “Golfer of the Year” in her home country as well. She then moved to United States after graduating high school to play the sports at the University of Florida.
In 2003-2007 Sandra represented Germany at the European Team Championships. In 2004 and 2006, she also played in the World Amateur Team Championships.
She received the All-American honors two times and successfully won competitions in the four events. This included the back-to-back titles she achieved at the Sun Trust Lady Gator Invitational in 2006 to 2007; 2007 National Golf Coaches Association First Team American (NGCA); and the NGCA Academic All American in 2005 to 2007.
She won the 2007 Czech Invitational Championship and was placed in the top position in the European and German ranking as an amateur player. Because of her accomplishments she received the full exempt card in 2008. On top of that she also earned her degree and graduated at the University of Florida in May.
