Marianne Skarpnord is a professional golfer from Norway who plays on the Ladies European tour and the LPGA. She enjoyed a flourishing amateur career and was one of the biggest talents in Norwegian golf in her junior years. She won the British Girls Championship in 2003, after defeating Spanish golfer Beatriz Recari of Spain in the finals. She also won the Junior Solheim Cup in 2003.
Skarpnord didn’t have much luck with the British Girls Championship in 2004, when she finished a mere 3rd. She played 12th in the qualifying school for the Ladies European Tour, which allowed entry to the 2005 season. She started her professional career in 2005 and placed several excellent finishes, among them second place in Skandia PGA Open. Her best at the Ladies European Tour was when she placed 22nd at the OTP Bank Ladies Central European Open. Skarpnord finished second at the Rejmes Ladies Open in 2006 and 23rd in the Finnair Masters. She also placed 28th in the SAD Masters.
It was in 2007 when the Norwegian golfer decide to play for the Telia Tour full time, winning three tournaments and placing 2nd and 3rd in two other tournaments. She also won the Order of Merit and had a place at the 2008 Ladies European Tour, where she finished 16th on the money list. It was in 2009 that she won her first ever Ladies European Tour title at the Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open, before winning another title when she won the Carta Si Ladies Italian Open after defeating Laura Davies.
