Bubba Watson Set to Play in Saudi-backed Golf Series

After incurring injuries in May, Bubba Watson took his time off playing golf and concentrated on recovering instead. The former World Number 2 is preparing for his debut after months of hiatus in the controversial yet world-renowned Saudi-based golf series in September.

Currently, at World Number 46, Watson has not played since the US PGA Championship - the reason why his ranking was highly affected. Even so, he acknowledged that the PGA Tour has given him enough opportunities and he is truly forever grateful for them.

Watson also shared that he is recovering from his knee injury and is advised that he could play before the end of the 2022 season. He is now planning his next events with his team and showed enthusiasm for the new concept of professional golf.

He also tweeted that he will be a non-playing team captain for the LIV Golf in Boston. His team is busy working on their new name and logo before they could play in the next season.

Watson rose to prominence for representing Team USA in the infamous Ryder Cup. As of now, controversies about suspending the members of the PGA Tour who have joined the fledgling series in the Ryder Cup have been spreading like wildfire in the golf community. This includes the removal of Sweden’s Henrik Stenson as the Team Captain for Europe in the next season of LIV Golf.
