Firing a six-under-par 66 at the Bell Micro Classic in early September, Cristie Kerr smoothly handled her come back. After her two-week break she was considered to make her two-stroke lead.>
Kerr managed to make seven birdies and a bogey at the Magnolia Grove’s The Crossing course at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Being the winner of the Safeway Classic, she holds a nine-under 135 after two rounds with two shots in front of Angela Stanford.
She added two at the 14th and 16th with her lone bogey. Before that, she virtually started her round in the tournament on the 10th with a birdie. She primarily had four more birdies on her back nine. It included a 22-footer at the ninth. This moved to the top of the leader board.
However, Angela Stanford signed up for a bogey-free 67 that involved five birdies. Stanford started her round on the 10th. Before adding three more, she had two birdies on the front nine then moved to the seven-under 137 at the halfway mark.
Both Shanshan Feng and Anna Rawson had shot 73. They are both in a group of five at four under. They also were both tied for the lead entering the second round. Rawson birdied three of her first four holes. She got the eight-under but could not have another birdie for the rest of the day. She dropped four shots over her final 14 holes with a double-bogey at the 11th and two bogeys. On the other hand, Feng had an eagle, four bogeys and a birdie.
Michelle Ellis (70) was third at six-under 138 together Reilley Rankin (69) made another stroke back.
