Abhinav Kumar
I thought it would be interesting to do a profile on some of the different cricket players out there but I am really having trouble getting information on him. According to the Deccan Charger official website, he was born 7 Nov 1984 and is a right-handed batsman. That's it. No more information, other than a few stats, is available. When I google his name, I come up with information on a mathmetician at MIT born on a different date. Cricket Zone does not even have him listed as a team member. I'm really confused. Does anyone know anything about this player?
Perhaps he is a very private person? I know it's rare in an athlete these days but he obviously stays out of the limelight. The only real information I could find other than what you already did was http://content.cricinfo.com/india/content/player/26167.html which mostly just has statistics.

I saw the page on Wiki but I'm not convinced it is the same person. The Charger homepage lists his date of birth as 09 Nov 1984. The article on Wiki gives a birthdate of 10 Sept 1980.
If I was a sports player, I would try to keep my life fairly private as well, but I would still tell reporters some of the basics about me. But then again, maybe being a bit of a mystery can be a good thing sometimes?
I think so many people tend to make wikis just to say they have, there could be a number of things on that page that are wrong, misleading, confusing. It might not be wikis fault, but when you give everyone the power to chime in, you know some (bad) people will do what they can to mess it up.
Prof. Abhinav Kumar of MIT, a mathematician, is not the cricketer you are looking for. Prof. Abhinav had his schooling in Jamshedpur till 1998. He was IIT-JEE topper (AIR - 1) in 1998. He received his college education from MIT, Ph.D. from Harvard, Post-doc at Microsoft and now working as Asst. Professor at MIT. He married my daughter in 2008 and she is getting her PhD in few months from a leading University in US. Their wedding reception took place at Chiraan Fort Club, Begumpet. C V C Rao, Hyderabad PS: I saw your post only today.
