Rivalries never really die, they just go through phases. The closer the teams are matched the more heated the rivalry becomes. Fans like to see intense games not one sided fights.
Oh heck yes! Look at the main page of this site, come on now. "Most Super Bowl victories 5 (tie with SF 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers)". I really think they are going to try and go in strong, if I were them I would be. I know too many in Tx and across the states rooting for them to beat that record and avoid any ties with anyone.
I dont think this rivalry will ever change if it does then something would have to be major for that to happen. When you think of rivalry you think of the boys and the skins thats all there is to it.
Even if it isn't as heated as it once was give it some time it will be again. This rivalry as faded a little before but as soon as they are both contenders again they will go at it like the days of old.
The rivalry will always exist to some extent, but I do not think it is as strong as it once had been some years back.
Really, it's the fans who keep the rivalry alive more than the teams themselves do.
Honestly, I didn't even know there was a rivalry between the teams. Somewhere along the way I guess I missed this little nugget of information. That's what I get for being a huge baseball fan and a mediocre football fan.
As far as I am concerned, this Cowboys and Redskins rivalry is long since dead as far as I see.
While there may be a renewed rivalry at some point, things have been pretty quiet since the late 90's or so.
