Jacob Oram rejoined the Super Kings last night in Durbin after missing the recent three-Test series against India and having to pull out of the domesic tournament for Central Districts due to an achilles heel injury. There had been questions as to whether or not he would be able to return to the game.

I am not too sure I remember hearing about this or not. I am thinking there were other reasons besides just that for him to return, right?

Oram is definitely injury prone but as the tournament doesn't begin until June 5, he has a good amount of recovery time from his latest injury. The key thing will be to keep him from getting another injury before then or early in the tournament. I hope the tendon injury doesn't reduce his agility as that is one of his strengths as a player.

I know sometimes that tendons take longer to heal. June is still a good bit away but thats just barely a month if that. I take it this was not as bad as others have done tearing tendons,

I do not have one, oopsies?

I really hope he can stay off the injured list. The team is really going to need him tomorrow when they go up against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

I'm not sure who needs the most help the Kings or the Knight Riders. Both teams seem to be struggling right now. I really hope the Kings can pull things together.

The Super Kings go up against the Kings XI tonight and, according to the team website, Oram is scheduled to play. They also have two other players on the injured list that they are hoping to play tonight, one being skipper Dhoni. He injured a finger in the last game.

I read a couple articles that inferred that perhaps something else was going on too but was not able to find any details as to what that something other was. It may have just been rumors. We all know how easily those get started.

If it was anything like me its not injury prone its accident prone. I know that these guys get beat pretty hard but it makes me wonder how many of them retire with say bad knees/ankles after too? I am sure I would have the highest score for injuries if I played, which is one reason i don't.

It can be a very dangerous game for any player that seems to attract accidents and injuries. Not only for Oram, but for the other players as well. I sure hope that he goes through a vigorous physical to make sure he is completely recovered before he does permanent damage. A lot of these players take chances with their injuries only to have to retire early and always wonder what could have been.

We found out early in my son's career thankfully, that he had extremely flexible ankles. He had sprained his ankles a couple of times each for two years in a row. Knowing how much he was depending on being able to play professionally one day, I finally took him to a specialist. We actually went to a couple, because we weren't happy with the diagnosis. We were told that because of the way his ankles were designed that he needed to find another interest. They told us there was no way to actually build up his ankles to be strong enough. There is a part of the ankle that doesn't have muscles to support it. So, we could only hope to try to strengthen the ligaments. We could have chanced it and let him continue to play, but we didn't want him to cause permanent damage. It seems that some of these professional players take too many chances. Surely, they have had the same opportunity to make sure if their bodies are actually cut out for the sport in which they have chosen.

Jacob Oram is a great player, so obviously the Super Kings will be playing better with him active on the team, but that is assuming that he is healthy enough to handle the stress, and to avoid any further injuries.

I bet if there were easier ways to detect some of these injuries early on for those who have trouble(repeated times over) it would be better for all teams out there. We all know as fans they can only do so much as we are all human but it seems some are more prone than others are.
