Sachin Tendulkar has lifted the crown from Lara's head. He has surpassed Lara's mark of 11,953 runs and is now the first batsman ever to score 12,000 runs. It could hardly happen to a harder worker.
Yikes! Every time a record is beaten like this it makes me wonder where the bar will eventually fall. At what point will we reach the limit of what a human can do in a lifetime?
Anyway, congrats to him!
Any chance someone caught the response from Lara when the record was broken? I would really have loved to see the look at that precise moment in time. I think my jaw would have just dropped.
It was definitely a great moment in the sport. Just thinking of how he accomplished that is unbelievable. This is something other teams will be looking at. With a bat like that a match can be turned around just like that. So is he really that talented well of course without the great eye hand coordination and terrific reflexes you don't have a chance but technique has to be a big factor. I would like to see a commentator analyze his technique.
Kumar,
You are right Tendulkar's record speaks for itself he has shown the world he can bat all sides and positions. In all conditions against any team and in fact some his best performances have been against a number one team. I think he has slowed up in recent years but I would not say there is anything wrong with his play. Probably the best all time batter.
I think that is part of what can define an all around player, if you can multi work (what I call it since many tend to bounce between positions), its not only going to help your team but its also going to stand out from those who can not (even more, possible chance to lead you to a better team if you are unhappy where you are currently).
Just like having a secret weapon, some of those out there I am sure which they were able to pull this type of things off. Heck I sometimes think if I were ambidextrous I could get more things done in a days time myself.
I think this video I found on Youtube says it all about Sachin Tendulkar at the moment. Of course, no one is truly unbreakable. It's just hard to imagine anyone breaking Tendulkar.

All of those words like unbreakable are tossed around a great deal and sometimes its close to being true, no one is perfect. Thought we have seen some amazing things in the sports world, I am still waiting to see who the next "perfect player" is.
