The Canadian immigration board has refused visas for three Pakistani players, including the senior batsman who was to be on the main squad-Mohammad Yousuf. I know that he had some disciplinary issues he was working through, but I am surprised at this. Given the fact that he's a highranked batsman and well known, he's hardly likely to become an illegal!
Unless there is a severe history of criminal activity or terrorism ties, then this is quite a blow to the squad. Obviously these are the players that they wanted to lead but that will be a drawback to have to replace them in the lineup.
I could take the moral high ground and say that this is what they got for having criminals on the team. But the truth is, I do feel sorry for them. I'm sure that the team wouldn't have people who haven't paid their debt to society.
