I read an article a couple of days ago that said that Pietersen seemed to be happy doing his own thing and trying to become the best cricketer in the world. Do you think he is close to that standard?
I think when many people aim for "the best" they either set the standards too high for anyone to reach, pushing themselves too much too quick and get injured or early retirement. Those who set the bar at a proper level will always move the bar up a little more each time within reach but without trying to kill themselves in the process of reaching the final goal.
At 28, and with his swashbuckling attitude, I guess Pietersen could understandly say he has the cahance to be one of the best cricketers in the world. Cricket goes a way back and the sport is not short of legends, so I think Pietersen has quite a ways left to go
Not to take anything from the guy, but I think it is too soon to be putting him in such an elite group. He has a lot of Sir Donald Bradmans to compete against.
Some will end up like Pietersen with the attitude of trying to achieve his goal but not nearly as many who talk the talk can end up walking the walk. I think thats what some others were getting at here.
