Jeter's Leaders

"The Jeter’s Leaders is a youth leadership, social change program named by the captain of the New york Yankees, Derek Jeter, and funded by his Turn 2 Foundation. The program is designed to promote healthy lifestyles, academic achievement and social change activism among high school students." I think it's wonderful to see an athlete being an old fashioned role model like we used to always see. It is a great contrast to the frequent stories of steroid abuse, gambling allegations and other things we so often see in the news.

I think the media also protects certain athletes. Like you never hear anything bad about Ken Griffey, Jr. Anyway, Derek Jeter is a great role model.

I agree, we need more good role models in sports. Too many times our children see just the bad players being publisized and that does nothing to help them.
