I think anyone who can retire on their own terms and in rather good health WITH some coin has had a darn nice career. Hope I can go out with the same.

I think with any sport it is a matter of going out with as much of your physical well being in tact as possible. it catches up to you after a few years. Too many players unable to physically get around years after retirment.

My husband started playing soccer when he was in grade school and now at the ripe old age of 43 is still playing. The wear and tear his knees and ankles have gone through makes some days hard to even walk. I can't imagine what it must be like for the pros who play year round and practice daily. Leaving with as much wealth and health as you can is the only way to go.

Ole Gunnar had a great career with Man U, from the days he was the Baby Face Assasin until his one and off games, due to injury. He had to take a decision, with the on going injuries, and in the end it was the end for the Baby Face Assasin, a truely wonderful player for ManU and for Norway as well. Thank you Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for so many fine moments we have had together in ManU.
