Quarterback Josh Treadwell McCown is a NFL veteran who has spent much of his time as a backup. The Arizona Cardinals chose him in the third-round of the 2002 NFL Draft; he was the 81st pick overall at round 3, coming out of Sam Houston State.McCown played for many teams like the Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, and even with Hartford Colonials.
In six seasons, McCown has played for three teams, making the Dolphins his fourth club. After being a Cardinal for four seasons, he spent one year each was with the Detroit Lions (2006) and another with the Oakland Raiders (2007).
The six-foot-four, 215-pound Quarterback has played in a total of 46 NFL games. He’s completed 57.7-percent of his passes, hitting 609 of 1052 attempts for 6,584 yards. He’s thrown 35 touchdowns and 40 interceptions, earning a QB rating of 71.6.
Although he has good size and athleticism, the quarterback has proven to be a streaky performer who lacks awareness and instincts. Making bad decisions, he’s prone to throwing the ball to the opposition rather than throwing it away. McCown has good timing, a strong arm and fine velocity. He’s also a confident performer. But unless he can learn to keep his cool under pressure, read defenses and react to oncoming rushes, he’ll continue to be a second or third string player.
Josh received the UFL 2010 Offensive Player of the week title.
