Jamal Adams is an American football player playing as a safety for the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL. During his college years, he played football at LSU. He was drafted by the New York Jets sixth overall in the 2017 NFL Draft.
He instantly became the Jet’s impactful starter and was named an All-Pro. Adams signed a 4-year contract worth $72 million with $38 guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus.
Jamal Lee Adams was born on October 17, 1995, in Lewisville, Texas. He stands 185 cm. tall and weighs 97 kg. James Adams is one of the highest-paid safety in the National Football League.
Adams was selected by the New York Jets in the 2017 NFL Draft. Adams was the very first defensive chosen by that time. He made his debut as a professional during the regular season in the season opener of the Jets against the Buffalo Bills.
He also made his career tackle for the first time with Mike Tolbert after his 13-yard run on the Buffalo Bills’ first drive. He finished the season as a rookie with 83 combined tackles, 6 pass deflections, and 2 sacks in 16 games and 16 starts.
In 2018, Adams was named the captain on the Jet’s rooster and obtained his first career interception off of Matt Cassel during the season opener against Detroit Lions. He completed his second season with 3.5 sacks, 115 tackles, and 3 forced fumbles with a recovered fumble and an interception.
In December of the same year, he was also named as a Pro Bowl selection for the very first time in his football sports career. During this season, he was also named as the Second-team AP All-Pro. In December, Adams was named Curtis Martin Team MVP.
Before the 2019 game season, he was ranked 37th among fellow players on the NFL Top 100 list. In a fight versus the New York Giants, he recorded 9 tackles and dismissed Daniel Jones twice. Due to this performance, he was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
In 2020, he was requested to be traded from the Jets. He created a list of teams, including his hometown’s Dallas Cowboys, to which he will be traded. Gregg Williams and Adam Gase, head coach, express their desire to keep Jamal Adams. On August 17, 2021, he signed a 4-year deal with Seattle Seahawks.
