Daniel Jones is an American footballer who plays quarterback for the NFL’s New York Giants. He played football during college and was chosen by the New York Giants in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Daniel Stephen Jones III was born on May 27, 1997, in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the oldest son of Steve and Becca Jones. He has an older sister named Becca, who plays field hockey. Jones also has a younger brother Bates, a basketball player, and a younger sister Ruthie, who plays soccer.

Daniel Jones graduated from Duke University with a degree in Economics. Jones is also known for his nickname “Danny Dimes.”

In 2019, he was drafted by the New York Giants as the 6th overall pick in that year’s NFL Draft. On July 22, 2019, he signed his 4-year rookie contract worth $25,664,056 including a signing bonus amounting to $16.7 million.

In his initial game, he completed 23 passes for 336 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 rushing touchdowns in the 32 to 31 comeback win versus the Buccaneers. Daniel Jones becomes the Giants’ first rookie quarterback to win his first career start.

On September 29, 2019, in his second start, he led the New York Giants to a 24 to 3 win over the Washington Redskins. In 2020, he was chosen as team captain in the second season.

In Week 7, versus Philadelphia Eagles, he ran for 80 yards in one play before losing his balance and tripping on the turf close to the end zone. In a game versus Dallas Cowboys in Week 17, he had one of the best performances in his football career, completing 17 for 229 yards and 2 touchdowns.

He started the 2021 season throwing for 267 yards, rushing for 27 yards, and another touchdown. Because of this performance against New Orleans Saints, he was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week. In 2022, the Giants declined his fifth-year option, making Jones a free agent after the season.
