Austin Hooper is an American professional football player in the National Football League. As of the 2022 season, he plays for the Tennessee Titans. Before that, he played for the Cleveland Browns, and from 2016 to 2019, he played for the Atlanta Falcons. Hooper also played collegiate football for Stanford University.
Player Profile, High School, and College Career
Austin Manuel Hooper was born on October 29, 1994, in San Ramon, California. He stands 193 cm tall and his weight was last listed at 115 kg. The tight end attended Pine Valley Middle School and then he attended De La Salle High School in Concord, California. By his senior year, he was rated by ESPN as a four-star recruit.
He committed to play for Stanford where he redshirted in 2013. He played in 13 games in 2014. In 2015, he was named to the First-team All-Pac-12.
He joined the 2016 NFL Draft and was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round. Hooper was the 81st overall pick of the season. His drafting with the Falcons reunited him with Levine Toilolo, who also used to play for Stanford.
In May 2016, he signed a four-year contract with the Falcons and he debuted in the season opener – a game against the Tampa Buccaneers. He played with the Falcons through to 2019 and during his tenure with them, he was selected to play in the Pro Bowl twice, in 2018 and 2019.
In 2020, he signed with the Cleveland Browns. It was originally for a four-year deal but they released him from his contract on March 17, 2022. A few days later, he signed a one-year contract to play for the Tennessee Titans.
