Mike Gesicki is an American footballer from Manahawkin, New Jersey. He is currently a tight end for the NFL team Miami Dolphins. Before entering the National Football League, he played football in high school and college at the Southern Regional High school and the Penn State.
In high school, he played not only football but also basketball and volleyball. He set school records, scoring 1,866 points in basketball, making 519 volleyball blocks, 1,817 receiving yards, and 103 football catches. In college, he was named to the John Mackey Award in 2017 and awarded the most outstanding tight end.
The Miami Dolphins selected Gesicki as the 42nd pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He signed with them a 4-year $6.61 million contract with a $3.66 million guarantee and a $2.88 million signing bonus. In his season opener with the Dolphins in 2018, Gesicki made 11 receiving yards, finishing the season with 22 receptions for 202 receiving yards.
In the 2019 season, during Week 12, Gesicki made his first career receiving touchdown. He made 11-yard reception during their game versus the Cleveland Browns. In Week 16, he recorded 6 receptions for 82 receiving yards and 2 receiving touchdowns versus the Cincinnati Bengals. His team had an overtime victory, 38-35, and he finished the season with 51 receptions for 570 receiving yards and 5 receiving touchdowns.
In the second week of the 2020 season, Gesicki made 8 receptions for 130 yards against the Buffalo Bills. He also made his first touchdown this season, the first time in his career that he made more than 100 receiving yards in one game. During Week 14 in the same season, Gesicki completed 5 receptions for 65 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Gesicki finished the 2020 season with 53 receptions for 706 receiving yards and 6 receiving touchdowns. On March 8, 2022, Gesicki received the franchise tag from the Dolphins, indicating that he might become an unrestricted free agent.
