Marcus Peters is a professional American football player in the National Football League (NFL). He currently holds cornerback position for the Los Angeles Rams. Peters is a two-time Pro Bowler and was the 2015 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Born on January 9, 1993 in California, Peters ran track and played football at McClymonds High School. He was considered a three-star recruit by Rivals.com and went on to play for the University of Washington. He declared for the 2015 NFL Draft and was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs.
During his debut season, he gained many rookie honors like being a finalist for the Pepsi Rookie of the Year Award and the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. In 2016, he was ranked 32nd on the Top 100 Players of 2017 and was named to his second straight Pro Bowl. Peters was ranked 79th in the Top 100 and received a Pro Football Focus overall grade of 85.7 – making him the 17th best among all qualified cornerbacks.
Peters was traded to the Kansan City Chiefs on March 14, 2018. He recorded 7 tackles and 1 pass defended in Super Bowl LIII but the Rams lost to the New England Patriots. His current player statistics are 194 total tackles, 63 pass deflections, 22 interceptions, 5 fumble recoveries, 6 forced fumbles, and 4 defensive touchdowns.
