It is early in the season, but the Tennessee Titans have managed to impress. The club has won its first five games, putting them in first place in the AFC South. They are two-and-a-half games ahead of the Indianapolis Colts, three games ahead of the Jacksonville Jaguars and four-and-a-half games on top of the last place Houston Texans.
Granted, the Titans have not yet met Indy. They have beaten two divisional opponents—Jacksonville (17-10) and Houston (31-12). Indy lost to the Jags 21-23 and barely beat the Texans 31-27. Here are some stats to consider.
The Titans are the only team in their division to post a plus-PF/PA differential. The club has scored 115 points and given up just 56 points for plus-55 PF/PA. They lead the division in both PF and PA. Indy has scored just 83 points, tying them with Houston for third in that category, while their 94 PA ranks them second. They are at minus-11. The Jags, who are also at minus-11, have put up 100 points and allowed 111. The Texans 130 PA, gives the team a minus-47 PF/PA.
This week the Titans play the Chiefs and the following week they meet the Colts. Every game is big, but the contest versus Peyton Manning and company is huge. If Tennessee can win that one, everyone will have to start taking them seriously. This looks to be a breakthrough year for this club.
