Browns’ starting quarterback Derek Anderson went down with a concussion on August 18 when playing against the New York Giants. Wide receiver Braylon Edwards has been out since August 9 with a cut right foot. He was hurt when teammate Donte’ Stallworth stepped on his heel during practice.

The Cleveland Browns have suffered through a slew of preseason injuries, including a hamstring pull for running back Jamal Lewis, a concussion to safety Brodney Pool and an ankle injury to return man Josh Cribbs.Jamal Lewis> The Browns, who were said to be stacked with talent, have seen that talent severely compromised prior to the start of the 2008 season.

Last season, QB Anderson played in all 16 regular-season contests, completing 298 of 527 passes (56.5%) for 3,787 yards, 29 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. He was sacked 14 times, earning a rating of 82.5. On Wednesday of this week, he participated fully in the day’s practice. Head coach Romeo Crennel is waiting to see his star quarterback go through one more full session before deciding if Anderson will start in week one. In practice, wideout Edwards looked ready to go.

The Browns will take on the Dallas Cowboys in week one and are certainly hoping to have as many of their top players as possible ready to go against the best team in the NFC East. In week two, they compete versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.
