Appeal

An appeal in cricket refers to the plea that the fielding side makes to the umpire to declare a batman out. According to the cricket laws, if such an appeal is not made by the fielding team before the next ball is bowled the umpire may not give the batsman an out decision. The plea is usually made by shouting ‘How’s that’ which has off late being abbreviated as ‘Howzat’. rules appeal
