All-rounder

In cricket, some players can bat well but cannot bowl. These are called as specialist batsmen. Similarly, there are specialist bowlers. However, if a player can bat as well as bowl well, he is referred to as an all-rounder.

The term all-rounder refers to a cricketer who excels at batting and bowling. Though all bowlers are required to bat, not all have skills to bat. Wicketkeepers such as Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Adam Gilchrist and Kumar Sangakkara are also excellent batsmen and are often referred to as All Rounders however they are more suited to be classified as Wicketkeeper Batsman.
