Born of 11th October 1984 in Blackpool, Steven John Croft is a professional English cricketer currently signed by Lancashire County Cricket Club. An all-rounder performer, Croft is a right-handed batsman with a bowling style of right arm medium-fast. He spends his winters playing State cricket in New Zealand.
Croft’s debut for the Lancashire 2nd XI team of Lancashire came in May 2001 at the age of sixteen. His first class debut came in a match for Lancashire in 2005 and he made his list A debut in 2003. He played club cricket in Australia during the winters of 2005-06 and 2006-07.
In the 2008 season, Croft scored 585 runs in 13 matches averaging to 32.50. He scored his first century scoring 122 runs against Nottinghamshire. He also made three half-centuries in the season. In one-day, he scored a total of 279 runs in thirteen games at an average of 31. He turned out to be the leading wicket-taker of the club with 14 wickets at a bowling average of 21.71. In Twenty20, he scored 134 runs from 11 matches and also grabbed 6 wickets.
In 67 first class matches Croft has made 2815 runs at an average of 30.26 and a top score of 122 and while bowling he has taken 34 wickets with best figures of 4 for 51.
Steven Croft received two awards including Player of the year award and also the One-Day Player of the Year award for the 2008 season.
