Ryan James Harris is a professional Australian cricketer who has presently signed up to play domestic cricket for the team of Yorkshire in 2010. Presently, he is an active part of the Kings XI Punjab team to play at the IPL 5 season 2012.
This right arm fast bowler has played for the Southern Redbacks from 2001-02 to 2007-08. He played a first class match for Sussex team against the Marylebone Cricket Club. In 2009, he was signed by the team of Surrey for a short period.
Nicknamed as Bryan Harris and Ryan, Harris was also a part of the Deccan Chargers squad that won the IPL in 2009 in South Africa. Though he was selected for the Australian Twenty20 team in early 2009, he got signed directly as an “uncapped” player by the team of Deccan Chargers.
On 18th January, 2009, he made his international debut in a one day international match held against the team of South Africa in Hobart, where he took the wicket of Neil McKenzie in a spell of 1/54. However, he was not selected for another ODI for over a year. But, in 2010, he was selected to the Australian squad for the third ODI against Pakistan replacing Peter Siddle. Harris took 5 for 43 and was claimed as man of the match honors. He was also picked for the fourth and fifth ODIs against Pakistan.
The same year, he was called up to the Australian squad for the first time, for the test series to be played against New Zealand, making his test debut in the first game. He took 2/42 and 4/77, and 3/50 and 0/38 in the second test. Presently, Harris is a part of the IPL Kings XI Punjab team 2011.
