Jaya Sharma is an Indian born cricketer and has played a single women’s test match and 64 women’s ODIs for India.

Jaya debuted for India against England in 2001-02 and was selected for India’s tour to South Africa in 2002 where she featured for a single match. The left handed batsman has scored 13 half centuries, first of which came against Ireland.

The 2003-04 season was specially good for Jaya when she collectively averaged 59.11 against West Indies and Sri Lanka and scored 6 of her 13 fifties in just 10 games.

Jaya is more of an attacking opening batsman and plays confident against fast opening bowlers as well as the spinners.

Career Highlights

She was a part of the 2005 Women’s Cricket World Cup winning side of India and is the first female cricketer to have won the BCCI Player of the Year award for 2006-07.
