Ravindra Jadeja is an all-rounder and bowls slow left arm orthodox and bats left handedly. He began playing the game when he was 10 years old. His idol is Yuvraj Singh as he is impressed by Singh’s electric fielding and style of batting.
Jadeja is a consistent member of the India-A team. In the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, he was a member of the India Under-19 team that was the runners-up in the tournament. During the 2008 Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in Malaysia, India defeated South Africa to lift the Cup. In this match, Jadeja fielded impressively and his bowling performance was 2 for 25.
In the 2006-07 Duleep Trophy, Jadeja debuted in first class cricket. During his debut match, he scored a half century for the West Zone team. In Ranji Trophy matches, he is a consistent member of the Saurashtra team. On 4th April 2007, he made his debut in Twenty20 matches at Mumbai and the opponent was Maharashtra team.

In late 2009 Jadeja got a seat in the Indian Team after Yusuf Pathan was dropped due to lack of form. on 21st December 2009 Ravindra Jadeja was named as the man of the match against Sri Lanka for taking 4 wickets for 32 runs.
Jadeja was selected by Rajasthan Royals for the inaugural season in 2008. During this season, he participated in 14 IPL matches and amassed 135 runs at a batting strike rate of 131.06.
Later on, Jadeja was selected by the team Kochi Tuskers Kerala to play for their side for 950,000 dollars. In the present scenario, the team of Kochi Tuskers Kerala is not a part of IPL anymore, and all the players of this team would be up for auction. Jadeja was the most sought after player in this auction and he has been sold to Chennai Super Kings to play for 2012 IPL match for 2,000,000 dollars.
