Jaydev Niranjan Shah was born in Rajkot, Gujarat in India. This Indian cricket player is the son of the secretary of the BCCI, Mr. Niranjan Shah.The major teams that Jaydev has been a part of are the Deccan Chargers, the Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, Saurashtra and the Rajasthan Cricket Association President’s XI team.
In the Indian domestic circuit, he is a member of Saurashtra team. When Saurashtra won its first ever title at the national level, the 2007-08 Ranji for one dayers, Shah was the captain of this team. He made his debut in domestic cricket in the 2002-03 season and since then has accumulated about 2796 runs at a batting average of 28.24. His top score was 178 and he has recorded 4 hundreds and 12 fifties in domestic cricket.
Apart from being a prolific left handed middle order batsman, he has proved that he is a useful right arm offbreak bowler too. He has claimed 10 wickets and his best bowling figures are 2 for 21. His all round performance at the domestic level resulted in Rajasthan Royals selecting him for the inaugural season of the IPL in 2008.
Jaydev Shah has participated in 16 Twenty20 matches in which he has scored 231 runs at a batting strike rate of 113.79 and batting average of 14.43. 49 has been his highest score and he has smashed 8 sixers and 24 boundaries. While fielding, he has taken 12 catches. He bowled 75 deliveries and conceded 106 runs while taking 7 wickets.
