Rohan Banerjee was born in a small village in Bengal. He is a left handed batsman who displayed early symptoms of expertise with the bat and adroit moves. He had not imagined in his wildest dreams that his fervor and passion for cricket would end up with him participating in India’s largest cricket tournament in 2008.
Banerjee was a part of the Bengal Under-14 team and later the Under-19 team. During his stint with these teams, he exhibited some illustrious performances that impressed the IPL selectors. In this way, he was offered a place in the Kolkata Knight Riders team. His solid technique and careful strokes ensure a marvelous future.
Banerjee debuted in First class cricket in a match against Services at Kolkata (Eden Gardens) from 16th to 18th November 2008. In the 1st innings, his play was exemplary as he scored 176 runs in 326 balls with the aid of 21 boundaries. This match was won by Bengal by an innings and 226 runs.
