Sayed Iqbal Abdulla is a left handed and slow left arm orthodox pacer, overall an all-rounder. In the Ranji Trophy, he has played for Mumbai and in the Challenger Trophy, he has represented the India Greens team. During the first season of the IPL, he was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders. Recently, he has been retained by this team to play for the IPL 5 season 2012.

Abdulla is a useful lower-order batsman and an orthodox spin bowler. His performances are extremely mature. During a Twenty20 match against Haryana, he made 5 dismissals and this performance brought him in the limelight. He was a part of the India Under-19 team that played a tri-series in Sri Lanka. In this series, he was the 3rd highest wicket-taker and he made 8 dismissals. The India Under-19 team won the World Cup in Malaysia and Abdulla was a member of this team. In this championship, he made 10 dismissals at a bowling average of 13. In the domestic cricket scene, he has appeared in 14 matches and took 26 wickets in these. His best figures were 3 for 29. He has scored just 1 half century, however has maintained a batting average of 20. In Twenty20 cricket, he made his debut in April 2007 and the opponent team was Baroda.
