Marvan Atapattu is a right handed batsman and legbreak bowler in the Sri Lanka cricket team. The other teams he has played for are Sinhalese Sports Club, ICL World XI, Delhi Giants and Asia XI.

From 23rd to 27th November 1990, India and Sri Lanka played a Test match at Chandigarh (Sector 16 Stadium) which was the debut Test of Marvan Atapattu. In the 1st innings, he was allocated the No. 7 batting spot but was out for a duck. In the 2nd innings, he batted at the No. 6 position and was again out for no score. India won this match by an innings and 8 runs. Atapattu played his first One day International against India at Nagpur (Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground) on 1st December 1990. He was the No. 9 batsman and remained unbeaten on 8 in 4 deliveries. India won this match by 19 runs.
