Mark Gillespie bowls right arm fast medium and bats right handedly in the New Zealand cricket team. He has also played for Wellington.

The debut One day International of Mark Gillespie was played against Sri Lanka at Napier (McLean Park) on 28th December 2006. He was the No. 10 batsman and was not out on 1 after facing 2 deliveries. He bowled 9 overs, none of which were maiden, gave away 64 runs and could not take any wicket. Sri Lanka was victorious in this match by 7 wickets with 60 deliveries to spare. New Zealand played a Test match against South Africa at Centurion (SuperSport Park) from 16th to 18th November 2007 and this was the debut Test of Mark Gillespie. In the 1st innings, he was out for no score in 3 balls. He bowled 30 overs (out of which 7 were maidens), conceded 136 runs and took 5 wickets.
