Eoin Joseph Gerard Morgan of Ireland cricket team bowls right arm medium and bats left handedly. An occasional wicketkeeper, he has also played for Middlesex 2nd XI, Middlesex, Ireland Under-19s and England Lions. England, Bangalore Royal Challengers, Ireland, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sir Paul Getty’s XI are other teams that he has been an active part. Recently, Eoin was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders team to play at the IPL 5 season 2012.
On 5th August 2006, Morgan debuted in One day International cricket at Ayr against Scotland. In this match, he was the No. 3 batsman and he hit 99 runs in 134 deliveries and this included 1 sixer and 7 boundaries. Ireland won this match by 85 runs. On 27th June 2006, Middlesex and Surrey played a Twenty20 match at Lord’s, which was the debut match for Morgan. Morgan batted at the No. 6 spot and scored 66 runs in 41 deliveries. In the process, he hit 6 fours and 3 sixers. Surrey won this match by 40 runs.
Morgan took the opportunity to appear in 75 One day Internationals and in these he accumulated 2307 runs with 115 as his highest score. His batting strike rate was 83.07 and batting average was 38.45. He took 31 catches and hit 43 sixers, 200 boundaries, 15 fifties and 4 centuries.
Morgan took part in 83 Twenty20 matches wherein he hit 1665 runs at a batting average of 25.61 and batting strike rate of 129.67. 85* was his highest score and though he could not hit a hundred, his statistics were 7 fifties, 154 boundaries and 56 sixers. He took 37 catches.
