Ramesh Rajaram Powar is a right handed batsman and right arm offbreak bowler who plays for the India national cricket team. The other teams for whom he has played so far include Mumbai, Kings XI Punjab, Indian Board President’s XI and India Blue. At present, Powar has been bought by the IPL team Kings XI Punjab to play in 2012 IPL matches.

Powar was selected in 2000 for the National Cricket Academy which is situated in Bangalore. On his spare time, he coaches budding cricketers. Powar has been very successful in domestic cricket for his side, the Mumbai cricket team. He has picked up many wickets and has been more than handy in the lower batting order.

In One day International matches, Powar debuted on 16th March 2004 at Rawalpindi against Pakistan. In this match, he bowled 6 overs, none of which were maidens, gave 35 runs and could not take a wicket. He batted at the No. 8 spot and scored 18 unbeaten runs in 11 deliveries. Pakistan won this match by 12 runs. In Test matches, the first match of Powar was on 18th May 2007 at Chittagong against Bangladesh. In the 1st innings, he scored 7 runs in 12 deliveries. He bowled 17 overs, out of which 1 was maiden, gave away 66 runs and took 2 wickets. In the 2nd innings, he scored 6 runs in 6 deliveries. He bowled 7 overs, out of which 2 were maidens, took 1 wicket while conceding 16 runs. This match was drawn.

Powar has played for Kings XI Punjab in all the three seasons of IPL till date. For IPL 2011 he was selected for Kochi Tuskers Kerala where he achieved quick wickets for the side.
