Krishnakumar Dinesh Karthik is a right handed batsman and wicketkeeper who has played for the Indian cricket team. He has also played for Delhi Daredevils, India Under-19s, India Blue, India A, Tamil Nadu and Indian Board President’s XI. Presently, he has been selected to play by the Mumbai Indians for IPL 5 season.
Karthik debuted in One day International cricket on 5th September 2004 at Lord’s against England. He was caught by Jones off the bowling of Harmison on a personal score of 1 in 12 deliveries. He stumped Vaughan, caught Wharf and along with Mohammad Kaif effected the run out of Collingwood. India won this match by 23 runs.
Karthik debuted in Test cricket on 3rd November 2004 at Mumbai against Australia. In the 1st innings, he was bowled by Kasprowicz on a personal score of 10 in 28 deliveries inclusive of 2 boundaries. He stumped Clarke who was on 17 in 28 deliveries. In the 2nd innings, he was caught by Ponting off the bowling of Clarke on a personal score of 4 in 7 deliveries. He stumped Langer who could not score a single run. India won this match by 13 runs.
