Gavin Ewing is a right handed batsman and a right arm offbreak bowler with the Zimbabwe cricket team. He has also played for the Zimbabwe Under-19 and the Matabeleland cricket teams.
Ewing was a member of the 1999 Under 19 World Cup Zimbabwe team. He made his debut in International cricket in a test match against Australia at Sydney in 2003. Ewing was caught out by Martyn off a ball by Lee and could only score 2 runs after facing 5 balls in the first innings. He bowled 11 overs and gave away 53 runs but could not get a wicket.
In the second innings, Ewing was caught behind the wicket by Adam Gilchrist off a ball by Hogg and dismissed on a duck. He bowled 3 overs and gave away 20 runs before Australia won the match by 9 wickets. In 2004, Ewing played his first One day International match in a game against England at his hometown Harare. Ewing claimed his first ODI wicket by dismissing bowling out AJ Strauss and gave away 36 runs in the 7 overs that he bowled. Ewing was once again dismissed for a duck after facing 10 balls in the match that England won by 161 runs.
In a total of 3 test matches, Ewing has scored 108 runs with a high score of 71 runs and has claimed 2 wickets at an economy of 3.66 runs per over. He also has a total of 5 wickets at an average of 4.53 runs per over in the 7 One day Internationals’ that he has played.
