Liam Plunkett is a right arm fast medium and a right handed batsman playing with the England cricket team. He has also played for the Nashua Dolphins in South Africa and is playing for the Durham County Cricket Club.
Plunkett made his first class cricket debut in 2003 and is considered as a useful all rounder. He made his debut appearance in One day Internationals in 2005 against Pakistan at Lahore. Though he did not go out to bat he made up for the loss of opportunity by picking up 3 wickets while giving away just 51 runs in the 9 overs he bowled and helped England win the match. He played his first test match the same year against Pakistan. Plunkett managed to get just 9 runs in the first innings before being bowled by Mohammad Sami. However, he once again took 2 wickets with an economy of 4.41 runs per over. In the second innings, he was dismissed for a duck in a leg before wicket appeal by Shoaib Akhtar. Pakistan eventually won the match by an innings and 100 runs.
In a total of 27 One day International matches he has played, Plunkett has scored 295 runs and claimed 37 wickets. He also has a total of 126 runs and 37 wickets in the 9 test matches he has played.
