Bas or Bastiaan Zuiderent is a cricketer from Netherlands who is a right arm medium pace bowler and a right handed batsman.

When Zuiderent was 18 years old he was chosen in the Netherlands team for their inaugural appearance in the 1996 World Cup. In only his second match which was against England at Peshawar he scored 54 runs. In the next year Zuiderent was again chosen in the team for the 1997 ICC trophy. However the team could not qualify for the 1999 Cricket World Cup.

Sussex signed Zuiderent in 1999 and he remained there till the 2003 season ended. During these four years he was not a regular member of the Netherlands team as he considered that playing matches for Sussex was more useful to his career. In this period Zuiderent did not play in the 2001 ICC trophy competition where the Netherlands team got qualified for the 2003 World Cup. However in the 2003 World Cup Zuiderent represented Netherlands in all their matches.

When Zuiderent left Sussex he again became a consistent member of the national team of Netherlands. During the 2005 ICC trophy three centuries were scored by him and he was the top scorer of the tournament.He made a match winning 116 not out score against United Arab Emirates which got them a seat in the World Cup 2007 in West Indies. he was also a part of the Netherlands team which shocked the England team in the Twenty20 opening match in 2009. he is a crucial part of the middle order line up for his country and has also played in the 2011 World Cup.

Career highlights

Zuiderent was the Man of the Match in the 2005 ICC trophy during the 5th/6th playoff against the United Arab Emirates.

Zuiderent was the Player of the Tournament in the 2005 ICC trophy.
