Paul Chandrashekar Valthaty is an Indian professional cricket player who presently plays for the Kings XI Punjab in the IPL 2011. This all rounder hails from Nandyal town in Andhra Pradesh. He is an opening batsman, who bowls medium pace occasionally and shot to limelight in 2011 IPL match with his blistering century. Presently, he is part of Kings XI Punjab team to play at the IPL 5 season 2012.
The major teams that he has been a part of include India under 19, the Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab team. Valthaty was trained in Mumbai at the Dilip Vengsarkar Academy and later on recommended to the Andhra Cricket Association president, Mr. Chamundeswarnath by Vengsarkar.
Paul was selected by the Kings XI Punjab team as a backup to international buys at a player auction in the month of January 2011. He is the opening batsman for the team, and had an outstanding game in the 2011 Indian Premier League, played against the Chennai Super Kings. Paul scored 120 in 63 balls as his team was chased down the mammoth of 189 run target with 6 wickets and 5 balls to spare. Moreover, it was the first 100 of IPL 2011 and the 13th overall, with Paul making his first fastest century. Because of his initial offensive skills, the team crossed 50 in 3 overs, a record in IPL history.
